Page 6 of 11The genre (or style) of a piece of music is determined by many factors, including the types of sounds and patterns used as well as the tempo. The chart above shows typical tempo ranges for several electronic dance music genres. In drum and bass and dubstep it’s common to mix halftime and doubletime feels – juxtaposing, for example, 80 BPM with 160 BPM.
